Virginia City - Incline Village - Virginia City

This ride begins in Virginia City, NV and travels down Geiger Grade (Nevada 341) to Reno crossing US 395. At this point the road turns into the Mt. Rose Highway (Nevada 431) and you travel west climbing over Mt Rose and down to Incline Village at the North shore of Lake Tahoe. This is a very challenging ride with a great deal of climbing. This ride is not for beginners. You need to be a very experienced rider to attempt this ride because of the extensive amount of climbing and descending as well as traffic and other considerations. The rewards are some great views and the accomplishment of climbing almost 10,000 feet on this ride.

Keys to the Ride

1. Start and end in historic Virginia City, NV

2. Descend to Reno on Nevada 431 and continue accross US 395

3. Once accross US 395 the road becomes Nevada 431 and proceed about 7 miles west up the highway toward the foot of Mt Rose.

4. Climb 9 miles to the summit of Mt Rose at 8,900 feet

5. Descend 8 miles to Incline Village and Lake Tahoe at 6,200 feet

6. Return the way you came.
