North Hills and Somersett

The North Hills section of Reno is located north of 4th Street and west of McCarran Blvd. There are many interesting areas located here including the Somerset development which will eventually link Reno to Verdi. If you enter from 4th street take Mae Anne and climb for about a mile up some steep streets. Cross Somerset and keep climbing for another mile until you reach Avaenida de Landa. Turn left and follow this street it will turn into Las Brisas Blvd (same street) through this subdivision all the way around until you intersect with McCarran Blvd above the Mae Ann Shopping Area.

If you decide to head west you can turn left onto Somersett Parkway then ascend for about a half to three quarters of a mile until you get to the first Somersett roundabout. If you go all the way through to Verdi there will be 6 more roundabouts. In all cases the only way through is to stay on Somerset Parkway. A fast decent follows the entrance and another roundabout. Then things level out for a while through the third roundabout and begin to climb gradually to the back part of the subdivision. Once this climb is completed it is only rolling all the way through 2 more roundabouts then down to the end of Somersett Parkway. At this point turn left on to Del Web Parkway and follow it for about a mile down hill to Somersett Ridge. Turn left here if you continue past this street up the hill you know you have gone too far. Follow this new extension down and around this very pleasant connection right into Verdi. There is one more roundabout but I suggest getting on the sidewalk to negotiate this one. Now it is on to Verdi.

Distance 32.1 miles Elevation Gain 1878 Feet Keys to the Ride 1. Flat and fairly easy to Plumb Lane and Mayberry Drive. 2. 4th Street to Mae Ann is a challenging half mile climb. 3. North at Somersett Pkwy to Hacienda or Left to Somersett Subdivision and Verdi. 4. Steady gradual climbs in Somersett with downhills and some flat rest areas. 5. Finding Del Web and Somersett Ridge to get to Verdi. Going North - Left Turn on Hacienda and following till roundabout and baring left and climbing till street wraps around and decends back to McCarran Blvd.
