Truckee River Bike Path
Reno River Ride: The cities of Reno and Sparks have joined in sponsoring and maintaining a river pathway for bikers and pedestrians. This trail runs from the Idlewilde Park area eastward along the Truckee River through downtown Reno and runs all the way to the very eastern end of the city of Sparks. This trail is approximately 12 miles in length. It passes many parks and recreational areas. It goes through downtown Reno and as you proceed east you pass industrial areas, wetlands and marshes and residences all the while never leaving the banks of the Truckee River. There are many places to enter the trail all along the route. This ride is very easy and children can ride most of this trail with adult supervision. There are only a couple of street intersections to cross until you get to the downtown area. In the future there will be river trails that will connect this ride all the way to the Mayberry and west Fourth Street area. I hope they complete the linking of these two areas within the next few years. For maps and information on these rides you can reference any local bookstore or check out the links to the local bike shops for further information.
